CANDIDATE FOR ASBSU VICE PRESIDENT

Hunter Sparrow is a first-generation student from Camano Island, Washington who is committed to making Boise State University more affordable, more advocacy-driven, and more uplifting for every Bronco. Growing up in a close-knit community shaped his belief that leadership begins with listening, showing up, and following through.
He currently serves in ASBSU as the First-Generation Student Representative and in the Executive Cabinet as the current Assembly Leader. Through these roles he represents first-generation students in the General Assembly, drafts and presents legislation, and works directly with university departments and staff to translate student concerns into action. His work centers on strengthening communication between students and decision-makers while ensuring ASBSU operates effectively and transparently.
This year, Hunter wrote and presented the Bronco Boost Finals Care Relief Bill, the Library Late Night Resolution, and the Environment Week legislation. He co-sponsored impactful initiatives including the Hygiene Drive Bill, Transfer in Bloom Bill, Tree Lighting Treats Bill, the Celebrating Women’s Sports Resolution, the Beat the Bulldogs Bill, and the Student Discount Book Legislative Committee to expand affordability and reduce everyday costs for students. He also successfully advocated for and passed a resolution calling for a constitutional convention to modernize ASBSU’s Executive Branch to reflect the branches current operations and improve the organizations contunity.
Beyond legislation, Hunter has led conversations surrounding dining hall nutrition and dining hall accessibility, advocated for welcome packages and safety improvements in on-campus housing, and actively served on committees including Public Relations, Bronco Engagement, Health and Wellness, and Student Discounts.
Outside of campus leadership, he works as a Student Marketing Worker at the Morrison Center and serves as a Washington FBLA Ethics Board Member, FBLA National Ethics Board Member, and member of the National FFA Candidate Nominating Committee. He previously served two terms as the Washington FBLA State Vice President and as an FBLA National Social Media Ambassador in high school, leading with integrity and transparency at every level.
As a candidate for ASBSU Vice President, Hunter’s platform is built on three pillars: affordability, advocacy, and uplifting. He will strengthen relationships between ASBSU and university departments through consistent monthly meetings to better advocate for student needs, increase institutional accountability, and turn these conversations into legislation and change in all sectors of the campus. He plans to work closely with the University Foundation to expand scholarship opportunities and elevate student perspectives in donor conversations, expand scholarship access, and protect current scholarships at the university and state-wide level. Additionally, he wants to increase the effectiveness of the ASBSU legislative branch by increasing applicants for the general assembly, creating a clearer process for students to join ASBSU committees, and better promotion of ASBSU joint assembly meetings.
Hunter is also committed to partnering with the Academic Senators to advocate for lower student and academic fees, improved and more affordable educational materials, and stronger academic advising to increase academic success. He wants to expand financial and non-financial support for student organizations, enhance the first-year experience through better welcome events and wellness initiatives, improve transparency and visibility of ASBSU and the Joint Assembly.
Hunter believes student government should boldly advocate for students, responsibly steward student fees, and intentionally uplift every Bronco to provide a quality education that students are proud of.
